#1 RE: Closing Numbers by Schmied 10.05.2016 11:59

Does Martin use the wrong numbers?

In the private blog he is talking:

"In gold, Friday's closing was admirable at 1289.7, but not good enough." (may 6th)

But the closing numer is 1294.0
This was also shown in his market watch an here on the comex dates
http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/metals/precious/gold.html

What is going on here?

I realised on an other chart that the close of the last hour of a trading session is different than the day closing. Is a closing of the end of the week maybe different than on friday?

iam realy confused

An other one:
He also posted on may 6th:
"Last week's closing was 1285.60" --> for gold nearest futures
But it was 1290.5 shown in the comex http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/metals/precious/gold.html

this is a good question. Apparently Martin is taking the "last" number from the quote settlements:
http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/metals/p...Date=05/06/2016

This can be a problem if one is relying on chart data.
It looks like one has to use the charts that Martin is providing on his Socrates system, but I would prefer to use other charts (e.g. investing.com) as well.
I guess one has to double-check on the CME quotes settlements in the case it's really narrow on the reversal numbers. But then that data is only available 5 days back.
If anyone has an idea on that, I would be grateful too.

The confusion is back on the closing numbers.
According to CME - Gold closing yesterday was 1265.5. Martin has mentioned a different number today.

last week was another week with a Gold closing that doesn't seems to be in sync with CME.
Meanwhile I've noticed that CME closings on Fridays at 13:00 (30 min Chart) corresponds to the closing numbers that SOC standard provides. This was a consistent occurrence in the last couple of month. Last week was an exception. CME showed 1294 on the chart at 13:29 (or 13:00 on the 30 min. time level), but SOC was reporting 1290.70 as the closing number for last week.
